Noise after changing 1-2 synchro in a Series III

Message non lu par surham »

Hi all,

I have mounted the gearbox, a LT 76 suffix B in my Series III with new synchros 1-2 and 3-4. Here is a video showing the great noise occurring when 2nd gear is engaged, whether driving or not. In the video the high-low gear lever is in neutral position and 2nd gear engaged. I pressed the clutch from time to time for the noise to be better appreciated. Should somebody bring an idea of what may happen, here are my thanks in advance.

Bonjour ; peut-etre un mauvais réglage de la fourchette . Ou un mauvais calage de l'arbre secondaire !

It hears like sometime is rotating and touching something else at each revolution.

One way to find a clue is to compare the rotating frequency of the engine with the frequency of the noise.

Knowing the ratio in the gearbox thus the rotating speeds of each element in the gearbox (and the transfer box) when the 2nd gear is engaged, you will be able to filter the probable root cause of the noise.
